Travel Smarter Asia is practical guidance for people traveling to Asia from further away, where the entry rules, the paperwork and the payment systems are genuinely unfamiliar rather than merely inconvenient.

How an article gets written

We start from the official page, not from a search result. The source text is captured before anything summarizes it, so the claims can be checked against something that is not our own writing about it.

Every factual claim has to be traceable to a quote from that source. Where a claim cannot be anchored, it does not get published, even when we believe it is true. That rule costs us material regularly and it is the reason the rest can be relied on.

Why we sometimes refuse to give you a number

Some articles deliberately send you to the official page instead of repeating what is on it. Lists of visa-free countries are the clearest case: they change, and two official sources have already disagreed with each other while we were checking. A copy of that list on our site is the thing most likely to mislead you, so we point at the source and say when we last looked.

What we watch after publishing

Every published article's source is re-fetched and compared against what it said when we wrote it. If the guidance moves, the article gets re-checked. A dated article that nobody is watching is just an old article.

We currently track 64 official sources across 83 articles.

How this site is paid for

Right now, it is not. There is no advertising, there are no affiliate links, and nothing here is sponsored.

That will not stay true forever. A site like this is eventually supported by advertising or by affiliate arrangements, and we would rather tell you that plainly now than quietly change the rules later. When it happens, it will be labeled where it appears.

What will not change is the sourcing. No commercial arrangement decides what we say about an entry rule, a customs limit or a deadline. Those come from the official source or they do not get published, and that test is the same whether a page earns anything or not. If those two things ever conflict, the rule wins and the money goes.

We also do not write about products we cannot source from the operator's own terms, which is why some obvious topics are missing here rather than covered thinly.

Getting it wrong

Entry requirements change without much warning, and the official source is always the final word. If something here is out of date or wrong, the link at the bottom of every article goes straight to the authority that decides it.
