Oman eVisa: How to Apply, Check Your Status and Reach the Helpline

Oman runs its visa system through one government portal, and the Royal Oman Police set the order for using it: register, log in, then apply. The site enforces that order.

You register before you can apply

The portal says “you must first register as an eVisa user to access this function,” and separately that “you must first login to the eVisa system to start the Visa Application process.” Registration gets you an account. Logging in unlocks the application. On your first visit you will be asked to create an account.

Sponsor routes need an Oman resident

Some entries work through a sponsor, someone inside Oman who stands behind the application. The portal says who can take that role: “sponsor registration is only available to residents of the Sultanate of Oman.” A sponsor applying as an individual must supply “a valid Civil Number.” A sponsor registering for an organization must supply “a valid Company Register Number (if applicable).”

If nobody in Oman can register as your sponsor, that route is closed to you before you start, whatever your visa type requires. Working out which route is left to you is the first thing worth paying for here.

Checking your application

The portal gives one path: “to view your Visa Application Status, please login and proceed to the ‘Find Visa Application’ link.” You must be logged in first. The portal describes no lookup by reference number alone.

The helpline

The eVisa call center runs daily, “07:00-21:00 (+4 GMT)”. The portal publishes two numbers:

• Inside Oman: “Inside Sultanate of Oman on the toll free number: 80080011”
• From abroad: “Outside of Sultanate of Oman: +968 22848200”

A toll-free Omani number will not connect from abroad, so use the second if you are calling from the United States or anywhere else outside Oman. The same page lists an email address, Info-omanevisa@rop.gov.om.

What the portal does not say

The portal explains how to register, log in, sponsor, check status and call. It does not say:

• what a visa costs;
• how long a decision takes;
• how long an approved visa stays valid;
• which nationalities can apply for which category.

Check the current fee and processing time on the portal at the moment you apply.
